Admission Process for Students Seeking Enrolment in NL Schools
The below criteria applies to families entering the province from countries outside of Canada or indirectly via another province.
It is important to note, “the family” as noted above, must be the legal guardian of the student.
Category 1: Students Exempt from Fees
If families are entering or presently in the country/province for post-secondary reasons (to attend University or College), we will require:
● a copy of their Study Visa and their enrollment letter from the Post-Secondary institute they will be/are attending
● the parent/guardian’s government-issued ID
● a document with their child(ren)'s full name and date of birth (passport or birth certificate)
● verification of their residential address (rental agreement or utility bill) so we can make sure your child will be referred to the correct school upon arrival
● schools are asked to complete the Google form for each
2. If they are entering the province under a sponsorship via Immigration and Multiculturalism, we require:
● the parent/guardian's Confirmation of Nomination and Work Permit Support Letter
● the parent/guardian’s government-issued ID
● a document with their child(ren)'s full name and date of birth (passport or birth certificate)
● verification of their residential address (rental agreement or utility bill)
3. If they are entering or in the province under Permanent Residency (PR) we will require:
● their PR Card document
● The parent/guardians government issued ID
● their child(ren)'s PR Card or COPR
● verification of their residential address (rental agreement or utility bill)
4. If they are entering or in the province under a Work Permit, we will require:
● a copy of their Work Permit
● the parent/guardian’s government-issued ID
● a letter of confirmation of employment
● a document with their child(ren)'s full name and date of birth (passport or birth certificate)
● verification of your residential address (rental agreement or utility bill)
Category 2: Fee Paying Families/Students:
5. If it is not the legal guardian or the family does not hold any of the above noted, the child is not permitted to start school and the family/guardian should be directed to email nlise@nlschools.ca
